"The Soviet occupation of Georgia" -a walking tour for students.

On February 28, the "Voice of Generation" Civics Club, in collaboration with the Soviet Past Research Laboratory, organized a walking tour for students focused on the Soviet occupation of Georgia.

During the tour, participants learned about:

  • Georgia’s path to independence

  • The Soviet invasion of Georgia in February 1921

  • Stalin’s role in these events

  • The Georgia-Russia war of February-March 1921

  • The first actions of the Soviet occupation regime, including the 1924 uprising

Students visited key historical sites related to these events, helping them develop a deeper understanding of history and a more critical perspective.

We believe activities like this play an important role in strengthening civic awareness and historical analysis—both essential for building a democratic and progressive society!
